Project Background
We installed 210m² of RubbaFlex®fg at the Haven Kent Coast Holiday Park. The client chose two blends that work well together, Pacific and Beach to create a seaside theme for the floor to go with the new waterplay apparatus, including tipping buckets and slides.
The Process
Installing onto a new screed, we primed the area for the new RubbaFlex®fg surface. RubbaFlex®fg is created by combing fine grade rubber granules with aliphatic polyurethane UV stable binder. The RubbaFlex®fg surface was hand trowelled at a depth of 6mm.
We added a rollercoat of Eflex in the area under the tipping bucket. Eflex is a surface binder ideal for splashpads under constant use with chlorinated water and jets. This clear coating can double the life expectancy of rubber surfaces, by significantly increasing the strength of the surface without, crucially, affecting the porosity of the surface or its anti-slip qualities.
The Outcome
The indoor splashpad has a new porous RubbaFlex®fg surface, which is both slip resistant and soft underfoot. The addition of Eflex will ensure the surface will look great and perform well for years to come.
