Project Background
Working with Leighton Linslade Town Council, FLEX installed safety surfacing across four separate recreation and park locations.
At one of the locations, the team installed Rubber Mulch, a porous surfacing system made from blended, colour-coated SBR tyre granules and shred, combined with a flexible, moisture-curing polyurethane binder.
Prep Work and Process
The existing surfacing was removed before the new Rubber Mulch system was installed at an average depth of 40mm.
A greater depth was applied beneath the play equipment to help manage increased wear in these higher-use areas.
To achieve the natural appearance requested by the client, the Rubber Mulch was installed directly up to the surrounding grass edge, creating a finish that complements the outdoor environment.
The client selected Mahogany Red for the completed surface.
The Result
The completed installation has created a bright and practical play surface designed for long-term use.
Rubber Mulch provides a cost-effective alternative to wet pour systems while offering a more durable and visually appealing solution than traditional materials such as wooden bark chippings.
