Project Background
We installed 320m² of RubbaFlex®fg at Stokes Bay Splash pad in Gosport. The client chose the Pacific colour blend.
The Process
We uplifted the old rubber surface before jet washing and priming the area for the new RubbaFlex®fg surface. RubbaFlex®fg is created by combing fine grade rubber granules with aliphatic polyurethane UV stable binder. The RubbaFlex®fg surface was hand trowelled at a depth of 6mm on the splash pad and stairs.
Given the need for a long-lasting surface, we added a rollercoat of Eflex. Eflex is a surface binder ideal for splashpads under constant use with chlorinated water and jets. This clear coating can double the life expectancy of rubber surfaces, by significantly increasing the strength of the surface without, crucially, affecting the porosity of the surface or its anti-slip qualities.
The Outcome
The outdoor splashpad has a new porous RubbaFlex®fg surface, which is both slip resistant and soft underfoot. The addition of Eflex will ensure the surface will look great and perform well for years to come.
