MMA Flake

Our MMA Flake Flooring System is a decorative, high-performance resin floor finish designed for rapid installation and long-term durability. Utilising a methyl methacrylate (MMA) chemistry, the system combines decorative flake/chip broadcast with a seamless resin base and clear top coats to provide a finish that is both visually appealing and engineered for demanding environments.

Perfect for commercial and industrial settings with a narrow installation window, where fast return to service is a must have. It is also great for domestic garage floors.

How it’s installed

MMA Flake is generally installed at a depth of 2-4 mm depending on usage and traffic levels. The process is as follows:

Preparation of base: Prepare the existing surface by shot-blasting or grinding with vacuum assisted diamond tooling. Normally we apply to a clean and dry concrete base
Primer Coat: Apply the MMA primer coat by squeegee
Flake Coat: MMA body/broadcast coat with decorative flakes/chips
Top Coat: Finally, we apply a clear MMA top coat (and optional anti-slip or textured finish if required)

What to consider (and why working with experts matters)

Correct base & preparation. Even the best surface can fail if the substrate is poorly prepared.
Properly planned works. Due to the rapid setting of MMA resin, installation must be undertaken efficiently, with adequate ventilation and without other trades working at the same time.
Professional installation. Given the quick curing time, it’s strongly recommended to work with certified or experienced installers. FLEX have undertaken a number of these installations and understand how to work with this system.
Avoid dragging heavy loads. While strong, the surface may be damaged by sharp impacts, heavy static loads or improper use if not properly specified.
