Stonex Quartz Screed

A fine blend of coloured quartz, combined with a chemical resistant epoxy binder. Pore filled with an acrylic gel and finished with a PU matt seal coat, incorporating a non-slip polymer. Generally installed at a depth of 6mm. Common uses include wet leisure pool surrounds, and changing rooms, commercial kitchens as well as retail and pubs & restaurants.

For a Quartz Screed floor, fine quartz is cleaned, dried, coloured and sieved into size. There are different sieve sizes and combinations of sizes that give a unique finish to the floor.

The small granules of sand are combined with a low viscosity, colourless epoxy binder, mixed together before being hand trowelled into place. Epoxies are known to be very hard and resistant to various chemical and mechanical loadings.

Once the Stonex Quartz Screed floor has been laid and sufficiently cured (normally around 24 hours), the surface can be pore filled with another epoxy substance, known as a thixotropic epoxy.  This epoxy is forced into the surface filling all the microscopic pores that exist, making it a non-porous surface.  Normally two coats are applied to fill all the pores.

Once cured, a final matt seal coat is normally applied.  At this stage, an additive can be made to improve the non-slip qualities of the surface, especially important in wet environments such as changing rooms.
